Our Managing Director, Loreto P. Rufo (Larry), has been part of the Delaware legal landscape for 35 years. The predecessor to today’s Rufo Associates started as an experiment. In 1989, Larry left his Firm to open an office where he could provide legal services in a different sort of way. The focus would be on personal attention to individual client needs and tenacious representation in achieving client goals. First and foremost, however, was the notion that all services would at all times be provided with diligence and integrity.

The experiment was a success. Over the years, the Firm has represented small local businesses, large international corporations, doctors and other health care providers, accountants, contractors, tradesmen, other lawyers, and individuals ranging from infant children (as Court Appointed Special Advocate) to the elderly. The Firm has extensive experience in all areas of civil litigation including complex multi-party matters. The Delaware Superior Court has appointed Rufo Associates to serve as Defense Coordinating Counsel and as Defense Medical Coordinator over all asbestos litigation in Delaware. As such, Rufo Associates is responsible for the day to day management of over 500 serious and complex cases where millions of dollars are at stake. Quite remarkably for a small firm, Rufo Associates is nationally recognized and has contacts and working relationships with firms in just about every state in the country. Locally, Rufo Associates is networked with other professionals such as accountants, engineers, and experts in multiple fields.
